I haven't been around in a long while. Is there still an address book about who's here? I have been "stuck" on a couple of UFO's for a long time but I'm getting antsy to start a couple of more. I promised myself I wouldn't until I finished those other monsters in the closet! We have a new QI who hasn't really had the chance to inspect much of anything yet. Gotta hide the pins with this one though!
I looked in the Google archives and there was a Judy with this e-mail addy back in 2001, and as her recent message appears in her profile presume this is the same Judy.
Perhaps she doesn't know the trouble we have had with 'imposters' so doesn't understand how cautious we are now, especially where directories and hugs are concerned.
In 2001 Butterfly and nzstar sang happy birthday to her, and one or two other names I recognise in the message lists. Five years is a long time, but I'm sure someone will remember her.
Ah, thanks for doing that, Sally! Having the same addy as before is a good clue. LOL!
Judy, I hope you aren't offended by our caution -- as Sally mentioned, we've been badly burned recently. We try to welcome newbies with a lot of warmth, but sometimes we get a little paranoid about requests for the directory. ;)
Now that we know who you are, can we see pics of what you've been up to?
Not offended. I do remember some precautions being taken even back then.
I got a job - just a part time job, and I don't have much work in the summer, but it took me away from the group. And sewing, and housecleaning, etc! But I'm an usher at a sports arena and I get to see lots of good concerts - sporting events aren't worth mentioning!
I did a Google search on my name and someone "paged" me from quite a while ago so I thought I'd come back and see what I've been missing. I often wonder what happened to some of us - but if you don't want to do that publicly, I understand. I'm not even reading this the way I used to, makes it harder to follow threads.
I haven't posted anything online in a long time - and I seem to have lost the Photo Album online that I did have. One of these days I'll get around to finding another place to post pics.
i just spotted you so..... SHEEEEEEEEEEEEES BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!! now back to our regularly scheduled program. eh? what? you mean we dont have any regularly scheduled program? ok then, back to our usual nonsense and chaos. :)) nice to see you online properly once again, dear Ms B. hugz from a chilly winter morning in the south pacific, jeanne
Sounds like you must have been around before my time, I think I've been here about 5 years. Welcome back!! I think it's so great when people from the past miss us and come back around!
Karen, Queen of Squishies I know I would miss you guys too!
No specific site, Judy! But lots of us use the free sites (WebShots, Yahoo, Picture Trail, etc.) or the space allotted to us by our ISPs. Does Verizon give you web space? If so, they probably also have some sort of "wizard" that will help you set up a simple web page of your own where you can post your pics -- which we'd *love* to see!
Yes, I think Verizon does give me web space. I'll check it out.
I'm so mad I lost my old album space, I had a small quilt diary there. And now those digital pictures are on my old computer (I've had some trouble bringing everything over to the new one) though I have a few. I could still hook my old computer and send them to my own page - that'd work! Maybe I could figure out how to set my old scanner to this new system too. That's one thing about having so much time off! I have a Mac - and the new one is great but not especially compatible with the old one. (I can't bring my genealogy over until I pay another $50 for an upgrade but that's a whole other story!! And way OT.)
I even fed my fabric addiction this week. Haven't received fabric in the mail in a long time!
I have a collection of food/kitchen fabric that I was going to make a sort of border across my kitchen with. That's in my thoughts for "Things To Do This Week"! Someone (I wish I coud remember who) once told me not to finish the ends completely and when I was tired of it on the wall I could make a completed quilt out of it. Sounds good to me.
Another thing I found since I've stopped working for the season, was my father's ties. I thought I lost them - I bought that book a long time ago. Now I have the ties and the book! I'm itchin' to get started on some new stuff!
Butterfly (I was thinking about your name last night as I drifted off to sleep---and I remember thinking your last name was so much like 'adverb'--and then this light bulb went on--I remember thinking the same thing when you were with us before :) So I 'do' remember you :) Just takes this brain a lot longer to 'warm up' in the memory dept than it use to..just the facts, folks, just the facts )
They probably took it down if you hadn't done anything with it in a while. :(
Oooooh, what kind of Mac is your new one? There are several of us Mac users here; mine is an iBook, but I'm lusting after a MacBook. One day.... And what do you use for your genealogy? I'm thinking that I may get around to doing something about that someday. ;)
Well, good grief! You have to keep acquiring fabric, after all! We wouldn't want you to go into withdrawal!
How clever!
Good for you! Hurry and get that web site set up so we can see what you've done and what you're working on! :)
I guess I did something wrong yesterday. I "invited" everyone to look at a few pictures through Webshots. I can't find the post webshots was supposed to send. Just a couple of QIs and a couple of quilts. I wish I could find the picture of the quilt the two cats are on (By the way the other end of that one is still in the sewing machine - that's a table not a bed!) I will find it and get it up there eventually.
