Hm, yes, that might be good - the fly one. Of course, the pie-circle might be a way to get some secondary pattern on the quilt - I would have to do some sketching for that one.

I laid out a few blocks to see what they look like, and I have to say it looks a little busy with no sashing, but I really don't want sashing, so I guess it will just have to look busy!

The shoofly I did had a free motion sort of fly (3 loops to represent body and wings) inside each triangle, with fly "noses" pointing toward the center of the block. I SITD to outline the "pattern" triangles + center square and filled in the entire background with free motion meanders, which were kind of like a housefly's flight pattern. Roberta in D

That sounds stunning... And a lot of work! I have 117 blocks. With the way work is going atm it will take me _months_ to machine quilt this thing.

But I sense a definite leaning towards putting some flies on there :-)

Hanne--the only way I'd considered quilting a Shoofly quilt is by hand. But I'm just that way. ;-D

Tol you she wasn't that good....she is NOT getting chocolate(and I am NOT talking fabric with chocolate printed or even painted on it)......YOU, the Queen of Google, aren't ready to have chocolate sent to her by stores in HER town.... when that happens no matter WHAT the temp is outside then I will have to agree that she IS good.

Well, I missed it too, so it can't have been too good (since I should have been the one to get it).

I just took it as being a little nosy, since Pat knows (of) several of my friends (as I used to live in the area and keep going back - including this August!).

No, no, that is just not an option for me. If I was to do that, I would have to leave it for _ages_ - I've never even tried HQ and I don't think this size is the right beginners project. Regardless, it would take me forever if I couldn't get it on the machine. Sorry, I just don't have that kind of patience :-)

But I do love the look of HQ and one of these days I'm going to find someone to teach me the basics.
