Well I had to do the dreaded grocery shopping over the weekend and our local grocery store had a giving tree for Seniors this year.
I normally grab a child one from our local GS office but I am not working there this year, so I thought 'What the heck? It'll be nice doing something for a different age bracket.' and proceeded to select an ornament.
I grabbed one for a lady named Jennie who requested a purse and a lap blanket, because those are two things I LOVE to shop for. :-)
Got to thinking that I could make the lap blanket if I kept it simple. Then I remembered my three month old birthday present of a Beverly's Gift Certificate and that clinched it.
I hit the shop last night looking for flannel for the front and back and found two that were really nice with enough left on the bolt. One is pink and yellow with scattered little pink hearts on the front and the back is a multicolored non uniform checked patter in purple, hot pink, yellow and green.
So I ironed everything, grabbed batting off my bolt on Warm and White in my closest (best purchase I ever made from Joann's online) and away I went.
Took me two hours to iron, trim and square up all the edges and put it all together. My first quickie 'birthed' quilt.
Will spend tonight tying it.
Jenn - who really hopes Miss Jennie likes but has no way of finding out.
