Pink Ribbon Quilt Update & Happy Dance

Greetings! Due to not being able to access newsgroups, AND having lost my address book, this message is long overdue! Well, it looks like I am back at RCTQ, so here goes.

A couple months back, I announced a plan to make a pink ribbon theme quilt and asked here for some plain 6" squares of thematic fabric. The quilt is for a dear friend who had mastectomy.

Long time readers will not be surprised to learn that I received way more than a few little squares of fabric! Several members send chubby squishies with assorted pink and pink ribbon squares. Several others sent a fat quarter or two with unique pink ribbon motifs. One packet contained the Lorelei (TM or C) design in the pink ribbon mode. A lovely quilter in Canada even sent a block ... a charming pink bird appliqué. On top of all this, one package contained a little cushion for the patient's comfort.

So, I had a wonderful selection of fabric, in many shades and tones of pink. Some had the ribbons, some had words, some cute or pretty motifs. All are beautiful! I used the smaller pieces for the front .... squares with strips in the middle. I saved large pieces of the theme FQ, for the back. Those were interspersed with the blocks of the whimsical Lorelei fabric, some more pieced squares, and the beautiful pink dove. I made the label part of the back design and also appliquéd my friend's name in rather large letters. So, the back ended up a tad more complex than the front!!

All in all it is a very lovely quilt. I think the kindness from the RCTQ family adds a great deal ... and I don't mean just the fabric! I know this quilt will be a great comfort to my friend. I took several photos before I sent it to C. I will get those posted eventually.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all who supported my efforts. I am dancing ... will you join me?

Of course, Pat! It sounds like a fantastic quilt for a good friend, and I hope all of the good thoughts and wishes it holds will wrap around her and help her in her battle.

Pat, I'm continuing to send warm healing thoughts to your friend. I hope that as she wraps herself in her quilt, she will feel all of the warm thoughts, caring, and hope that you have put into her Hug.
