Yoda's Memory Squishy Quilt

Nov 17, 2009 12 Replies

I kept fondling all those pretty squares that some rctq-ers sent me when Yoda died. I've said it before, but I was just so touched by that gesture. I really wanted to do something special with those little squares. So I took them and made a twin-sized quilt top. Very simple, kind of a nine-patch-type thing with squares set on point. I used every single one of those squishies. It's not quilted yet, and I am *not* a good picture-taker, but I do want to show it to you. I hope you guys can spot your squishies, and know that I just love this quilt. It's going to be my new favorite couch comfort-quilt.

Thanks again.

That is so lovely Sherry. I had forgotten how 'on point' changes the whole look of the quilt. The 9 patches make a great border and give it a bit of zing.

Well done.

Thank you so much. I truly enjoyed every minute of making that quilt. It was so easy it just fell together. I know it's a simple one, but I am just goofily proud of it. It will look much better when it is quilted. I was thinking maybe just diagonal straight lines that won't overwhelm the squares themselves, or crosshatch or something like that.

It's lovely Sherry. Well done you. I agree with Roberta, those

9-patches are a great border for you un-fussy centre. Lovely. . In message , Sherry writes

Very classy; old-fashioned, but contemporary and timeless! joan

Sometimes I forget just how lovely "simple" can be, but this is a perfect example. It's a beautiful quilt, Sherry, made more so by the love of your friends and your memories of Yoda. Thanks for sharing.

That is stunning. I can't believe how that 9 patch border set the field off. Can't wait to see it quilted. Great work. Taria

Oh, Sherry, it's lovely!!!!! You did such a great job of design and piecing. What a beauty. I hope when you snuggle in at night with it, it will bring you tons of fond memories of Yoda and your many friends here. It brightened my day so much to see your quilt and to read your post. Well done! Donna

Howdy!

Piggybacking here. Great idea, Sherry! That is a wonderful memento! :)

What a beautiful and inspiring scrappy quilt, Sherry! I'm sure Yoda would heartily approve. Thanks so much for sharing.
