advent calendar wallhanging

Well, I have finally managed to complete something!

This all started about 2 months or so ago when my eldest DD (just turned 13 in August) declared that for this year's advent calendar she wanted one with earrings and such (yes, she is smack in the middle of that stage where looks are EVERYTHING!). The other two (12 and 9) immediately joined in the demand. So, since I do not think such a thing is available ready made, I decided I would have to make my own. After surfing the web for a while looking for inspiration and suitable fabric and patters, I came upon this fabric and decided it would do just fine. I cut and sewed and in a weekend I had made this:

It's in the quilting album. True, it is not actually quilting, but I did use quilt fabrics!.

Now to buy the fillers and wrap them!

It certainly is lovely fabric, Claudia. The calendars will be much appreciated, I'm sure. I have to say, those Macruz quilts are just wonderful. What size are the cross stitch centres? . In message , claudia writes

Hi Pat

The squares were stitched on 36 count Edinborough linen using 1 strand of floss over 2 threads. Each square is 24 x 24 stitches. I made it as a birthday gift for my friend MariCruz.

So cute! Tell me about the little numbers -did they come as a set for an advent calendar? I used to make lots of these as bazaar projects, they always sold quickly. Roberta in D

Hi Roberta

No, the little numbers are loose numbers. They are brass charms that I bought from a terrific charms company (NAYY)

They have tons of great charms and their prices are very reasonable with very fast shipping.

That's pretty cool. I am working on one now, but it sure isn't taking me a weekend. I will post a picture when it is done.
