And now showing,,,my sister's quilt...pictures posted

I've posted some pics of the finished quilt. The fan block with the frog came out really cute and I like the circle feather on the hexagon block. I put little designs on each of the cornerstones but left the sashing plain, just outlined to stabilize things when I started my quilting. I do like the really small border and then the binding matching the second border. I sort of used the white glue method that you set with your iron for the binding. It worked very well and was a lot easier then the fusible thread method I usually use. Especially with the flannel backing and I almost always back my quilts with flannel.

I still have just a few places on the binding that need re-stitching. I know my sister is going to be very surprised.

It's great, Judie. I know your sister is going to feel the love that's gone into each and every stitch.

Agreeing with Louise, your quilt for your sister says "love". I know it will be a precious comfort to her. Polly

Thanks to everyone here for all the support, encouragement and comfort I've gotten while I was finishing this project. I was able to get to the post office this morning (after cleaning off my car and sprinkling salt on the black ice on the driveway) and the quilt is in the mail. I'm really hoping it will be there quickly and USPS has been operating at warp speed for me lately.

I talked to my sister this morning and she and her DH were in their way to Raleigh where she has her dr appt this afternoon. They are about 3 hours from Raleigh so it's an all day event. Luckily, my DBIL is retired and can take her wherever she needs to go.

She's beginning to sound sick, it just breaks my heart. I always feel sort of lost when I finish a quilt or a big sewing project but I think working on this particular quilt has been more therapeutic than usual.

It look wonderful, Judie! Does she have any idea it's on the way?

Thanks, Sandy and no, she has no idea. I did ask her how often they get to their post office box this morning and told her I was sending a little parcel. I think she suspects I'm sending her a few books and she's right but that's a second package.

She's wanted me to make her a quilt and I was working on this one as a surprise and was hoping to finish it for her birthday in January. That would be last January actually but things just kept getting in the way.

What a lovely sampler. I see some of my favorite blocks in there. ;-) I love the warm colors you used, Judie. The tiny flowered border around each block is stunning. The tiny flowered borders and big border really ties the quilt together. I'm going to steal that idea from you! ;-) You did great job. Your sister is going to be so tickled.
