Quilt for my sister is quilted and bound!

Dec 11, 2008 8 Replies

I do have just a few little things to finish, but I have the binding on and have washed and dried the quilt. I never even quilted the sashing after all the worrying I did about how to do that part. By the time I got the blocks and the borders quilted I decided it was enough. I am putting some little designs in the cornerstones and have 2 or 3 more of those to do and need to clip a few threads. And fix a few places where I missed the back of the binding when I was stitching in the ditch from the front.

I'm going to be able to get this in the mail tomorrow and I hope if I get there early enough my sister will have it on Saturday. She goes to the surgeon tomorrow and I wanted her to have it then but she'll still need all the comfort I can send no matter when it gets there.

I'll try and get some pictures and post them tomorrow. Thanks for all your support and encouragement and please keep my sister in your thoughts.

Congrats. Priority mail should get it to her by Saturday.

Yes, I have a priority box ready and waiting. Since USPS is having a problem with users printing labels from the website they have arranged alternates. Very good of them I think.

Great job, Judie! Can't wait to see the pictures. I know it will be a big comfort to your sister. Please keep us posted on her situation.

not the site I usually use but she knows where I usually post all my pictures and I'm still hoping for the surprise factor to cheer her up.

She went for the lung capacity test Friday and she passed! She had a hard time passing but she made it and she can have the surgery. I still hate the fact that she needs this but we're all glad she can have the surgery. I never thought I would be wishing for my sister to be able to have part of her lung removed. She'll have her operation this Friday so will spend Christmas in the hospital but we're all hoping for a good prognosis for Christmas this year.

I mailed her quilt and a couple of books on Thursday she hasn't gotten them yet. The priority mail between Western New York and North Carolina is very slow. I sent a package to Apple Valley California Saturday and it's already been delivered.

Thanks for your concern and all the kind thoughts and wishes and prayers and hopes going out to my sis and her family.

Hi Judie,

Saw your beautiful quilt in your other post. Gorgeous! Absolutely lovely!

So glad your sister will be able to have the surgery. (I agree, that does sound odd.) It sounds like a very severe surgery, but hopefully, it will result in good news. Keeping her in my thoughts.

I will tell her, that's great news about the bookstore man. In fact it's the most encouraging thing I've heard in weeks.

They will have to leave their town tomorrow to travel to Raleigh for her surgery as she has an anesthesiologist appt Wed am. and her post office still doesn't have the pkg. I am really hoping it gets to her tomorrow before they leave since I wanted her to have it NOW, at least by now.

Thank you,

Judie

Anytime. I'm glad to have helped.
