Yesterday, A Time to Sew shut their doors. It was a truly sad day. A Time to Sew opened up many many years ago under the name Leah's. At one time there were 7 stores. By the time I started quilting 12 years ago, they only had 2 stores. Leah and her husband ran the stores until a few years ago when the one I would go to was sold because Leah had had heart surgery and a VERY difficult recovery. Last year they sold the last store which was closer to their home.
Leah's husband was a holocaust survivor who not only ran the stores, helped at all quilt shows, he taught at a local community college telling the stories of how he, his parents and sister all survived TOGETHER.
Susan Price and I met up at Time to Sew a few months ago. A wonderful friendly store where the staff all were willing to help with fabric selection, classes, and just kibitzing with the customers.
