I haven't seen any of what you are looking for in the fabric stores, but I wasn't looking closely either. This might be a suggestion for you though......I had a little friend that wanted Smerf jammies REALLY bad, no Smerf fabric was to be found anywhere. I finally picked up a set of Smerf sheets on sale for $7. She got Smerf jammies, a robe and a sun dress and sun hat and three Smerf toss pillows for her bed.....all for $7 of fabric! They do have those T-shirt knit sheets, I would think that would work for your stretch knit if it's a Care Bear print. Flannel sheets are starting to appear in the stores now too. Check the Juvenile area in the bedding departments. Those licensed juvenile prints seem to hit the bedding departments pretty quick.

I think sheets can be an overlooked resource for SOME sewing projects. My son's friend, who is HUGE, 6'7" and 345lbs needed a dress shirt and the Big & Tall shops were way out of his price range. I bought a white king sized sheet and got two shirts out of it for him, not a bad deal for $20 of fabric. I found an Egyptian cotton king sized sheet in an ecru color on a sale table for about $5 and made myself some night gowns out of it. I did all those Heirloom sewing techniques I'd been wanting to try on SOMETHING. I won't go into what I spent on laces but the price was great on fabric LOL. They turned out lovely and I've been wearing them for years.

Hope this helps, Val

*sigh* When am I going to learn not to read posts so fast?

I was reading along, and didn't notice that the subject had changed from dress shirts for your son's friend to nightgowns for you. I thought the heirloom sewing techniques were an interesting touch, but I was *really* scratching my head as to why you spent so much on lace. I was sure hoping he liked the finished shirts! ROFLOL

Hahahaha......that's funny! I did on occasion threaten to sew lace on the shirt tails of my son's shirts though just to make him keep them tucked in......this was obviously another era than what current fashion dictates.
