Are you smarter

than a second grader. Nope and I admit it.

I was reading your tips on quilt labels and it reminded me of my great niece. I made her a quilt of her favorite colors. I did the usual label thing. I attached the label to the backing then machine quilted over the label. I thought what if the label did get removed somehow, how could the child ID her quilt as hers.

While MQ'd I did her name in FMQ several times. When I gave it to her I told her there is a secret in the quilt. All the adults at the time started looking at the quilt. They held it up and looked all over the top.

My grand niece spoke up and said Aunt Kate my name is all over the quilt. I asked how she knew. She pointed to the back of the quilt and said you spelled my name backwards but here it is, and here it is, etc. I used a solid color backing with matching thread but that little stinker saw it immediately.

She had all the adults swear to her secret and not tell a soul, even me.
