Carrot or stick?

It really is OT. I was sort of good in October -- I fell off the wagon once in a very small way. And, I had to buy fabric for my son's Halloween costume -- but I hardly think buying 13 yards of flaming solid red fabric counts. LOL. Now it's November (almost) and I am still wanting to be careful. BUT.....I have a really odious and difficult and potentially embarrassing task I must attend to. It has to do with a phone call and money and people on the other end who aren't necessarily pleasant and so forth. I've put it off for weeks and now it's dire. Sooooooooooooooooooo I've decided that if I take care of this today, I'm going to reward myself in a big way. That means a MAJOR shopping "trip" to Fabrictales.com. I think this will help me get through something truly horrible. If I make it, I will post and let you know that I've accomplished something major and that I'm going to be receiving a "carrot" of substantial value. And when it gets here, I'm putting aside all my other projects and making something special just for me from the stuff I'm planning on buying. I'll post the URL of my shopping cart.

Do you do the same? Do you use fabric to get yourself through tough times, events, ugly tasks? I'd like to hear your stories of using fabrid/quilting as a carrot when you know that a stick wouldn't get the job done.

Oh my yes, I do that. Monday morning, first thing, I did three things I did not want to do: paid bills, completed forms to comply with a tedious and stupid IRS regulation and wrote a barely polite letter to an insurance company. The odious chores completed, I gave me the rest of the day off to stitch anything I wanted to. Polly (The insurance letter used words such as abstract, obscure and incomprehensible. I hope it gave somebody a belly ache.)

Sunny hate to ask this on line but did you get that little piece of fabric from me that I sent? I sent a birthday card to a very close friend of mine that same day and she hasn't gotten it yet and so I was wondering if you got the little thing I sent you.

Carrot? - I eat the carrot in the form of chocolate. LQS not local enough and Mail Order for fabric too slow to provide the instant gratification needed! Chocolate can be found in the house in some form, or failing that, at the end of the road!
