Color catchers?

Wow. When my Puss in Bonnets quilt bled and turned everything hot pink and you recommended Color Catchers, I was impressed. Today, I needed to wash my new, best, white knit pants. Tossed in a Color Catcher. Oh boy and wow. They look like new. I know this isn't a big event to quilting but it is a warm fuzzy happy for me. Using honest-to-goodness pure bright white isn't a logical choice for a quilt that may be used to dry the dog's paws or flap as a SuperMan's cape. Crib quilts have a hard life. Just wanted to thank you for such a happy. Polly

Polly, Glad you had such great success with the color catchers. I've been amazed the couple of times I've had to use them. Then again, when I once washed a red t-shirt (that had been washed many times previously) with some of DH's tan work pants and everything came out pink/purple and no amount of color catchers would work...I've been suspicious. No more red clothing is allowed in this house.

Color Catchers 'catch' the excess dye as it comes off a fabric. It doesn't remove it once the damage is done. If you had a color catcher in with the red shirt and tan pants the pants would have been okay- not pink/purple.

Sorry that happened. Red is an untrustworthy color! VBG

Fortunately, I suppose, he worked in a very dirty enviornment at that point and mostly wore the next best things to rags when he went to work there. He's also a very secure person and handled pinkish purple very well. His brothers were very curious as to where he shopped to get pants that color. I now refuse to let red clothing into the house.

I always use Color Catchers when I wash new clothing as well as new fabric. It's amazing the color those catchers catch!

And then there was the time back in the 60s when, as a brand new ignorant bride, I laundered the new red placemats with my new husband's Marine Corps skivvies. Lordy, lordy, the abuse he took on that!

Howdy!

Color Run Remover will remove ALL the excess color, will make some fabrics turn into shades of "vintage fade". It's good stuff, but use w/ care.

I have a couple of the original Dye Magnet cloths for extra-special quilts. And BIZ for removing old grime and "age" from fabric; lovely stuff.
