Compare Quilt Shows

We have been to the AQS show in Paducah but have not heard much about the National Quilting Association's (NQA) annual show. I understand that no show can really compare to the AQS show in terms of size and attendance. However, what do you think about the NQA show that will be in Columbus, Ohio in June of 2007?

I haven't been to either of those shows, Jerry, but I have been to the

*really* big one in Houston. It's in the fall and really shouldn't be missed, if you have any way of attending.

The focus is a bit different in each of the shows. I've been to several and enjoy them differently. You WILL find a determined contingent that backs certain shows as being "the best...the biggest" etc. I suggest trying to get to all of them and do your own comparison!!! :-)

Howdy!

The Really Big Quilt Show in Houston, aka The International Quilt Festival, can and does compare w/ the AQS show. The Houston show is bigger and much better organized, and it's all in one building w/ the actual quilt show and vendors on one floor of the huge convention center. There are more classes offered in Houston and bigger awards given to the winning quilts, w/ more "big name" quilters in attendance. However, the Paducah show is more charming. Paducah is a beautiful little city and it turns into Quilt Town USA for the week. Delightful. There are no strangers in Paducah during quilt week. Others can tell you about the NQA show, and will. I'd encourage y'all to go and check it out, enjoy the differences. And please come back and tell us about it, esp. what you bring home and where you keep it.

Merry Christmas! Ragmop/Sandy--in n.Tx., wondering about the temps in Ohio in June...
