I have tried without success to find a web site with information about the International Quilt Festival in Houston November 1-4 2007.
I am especially interested in finding the best place to stay during the show. In checking on lodging for the 2007 Paducah show, it looks like all of the local lodging is sold out and most all of the classes are full.
I really would like to get booked early for the Houston show so we don't run into the same problem.

There isn't a lot up yet for the next show.
I'm sure others will chime in, but the show has shuttle busses that run a loop through several hotels and then on to the convention center. It was really nice staying in one of those hotels (and saving cab fare/rental car fees) We stayed at the Hyatt and it was (cough) lovely
1970's decor. A bit tired but not horrible. I heard really nice things about the Magnolia. I believe many in this newsgroup stay at the Doubletree. I know the Four Seasons was also on the shuttle route and one other that I can't recall.... Also, there is a Hilton attached to the convention center itself.marcella

I'm a big fan of the Magnolia. It's a beautiful hotel & they are very close to the Convention Center - you could walk, but when they have a limo at your disposal, why not take advantage of it. I think I booked a year in advance when I went & I got a terrific rate. When I was checking out, the woman in front of me paid for one night, the same as I paid for 3 nights.
I'm one who's stayed at the Doubletree several times. However, I was later than usual trying to reserve for next year, and they're sold out already! Yikes! We'll be staying in the Greenway Plaza area this next time -- shuttles still run out there, and there are more options for eating, so that makes up for the slightly longer distance to travel.

We stayed at the (attached) Hilton Americas, checked in Saturday of the show, had no problem getting those reservations a month before that. Here's a tip: most of the quilters who take classes are leaving before or on Saturday. Lots of people have to get back home and back to the usual routine on Monday. Staying a day or so later than average gets you a decent room w/out having to book a year in advance. The show is open until Sunday evening, so you still have 2 days to see the show and stay next door. The room and service were fine, and it was fabulous to be able to go back to the room, take a break, get a decent meal (show food is expensive), then head back to the show. We could check out Sunday and still go back to the show. Saw several of the Big Name Quilters in the lobby, easy to strike up a conversation, share a drink. So don't give up, Jerry.
