Cordless Irons

I don't think I've seen a discussion of this here...correct me if I'm wrong. But, what are your opinions of the cordless irons? All my quilting friends have them and really like them. I've tried theirs and am not sold! I don't think they steam enough, they don't hold enough water, and for those few of us who still iron clothes....they cool off when not on the base. So let's hear your opinions. P.S. I think my Rowenta just died!

I tried one at a class last year and I wasn't impressed, either. IMHO, it didn't get hot enough and needed recharging way too often. Granted, I'm pretty fussy about ironing, and I'm *really* fussy about having a hot iron, so YMMV.

I've looked into getting one but I've been unimpressed. I use my iron a LOT, of course (but never for ironing clothes!) and I want something that gets hot quickly, stays hot and doesn't take up a lot of space. (Hmm, kind of what I want in a man. . . .must think about that.. .. ) The cordless irons have that stand that makes them far too bulky for my taste, since I leave my iron on the ironing board. I also realized I haven't had all that much difficulty with the cord, so why fix the situation if it isn't broken?

Having said that, I am still looking for the perfect iron. . . .

I had one of these for a while. It was the one that comes free with the hyper-expensive vacuum cleaner. I was not impressed. It was sold for $2 at a yard sale last month.

Probably as hard to find as the perfect man! LOL

While I agree that it would be nice to use an iron that wouldn't promptly use its cord to crease the just-pressed length of backing fabric, I once had a cordless iron. Big mistake. As others have said, it didn't stay hot enough long enough to do much good. I replaced it with my Rowenta rather quickly.
