Dallas/Washington Rivalry

Gosh, I hope you tell us how you really feel about this rivalry, lol! Were you dropped on your head when you were a child to make you a Redskin fan? Do your Texas neighbors know of your devotion to the Redskins? The rivalry probably has died down some. I just hope they show the half-time show when Troy, Michael & Emmitt are inducted into the ring of honor. I'm a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. They have had their bad times with the good times.

No, I was born and raised in Oklahoma. My step-dad was a big Cowboys fan.... I always cheered for whatever team was playing Dallas just to make life interesting.... and back when I was growing up the late 60's/early 70's the rivalry was a really big deal... and I became a Redskins fan... I only live in Texas because I fell in love with a Texan who just had to move 'back home', after living in Oklahoma.

I also cheer for OU. Not a good thing in Longhorn and A&M territory.

Tricia, I'm the the Washington DC area and watch the Redskins. I was born just south of Pittsburgh, so I cheer for them also.

The idea of a rivalry quilt has really got me thinking!!! Especially with Redskins and Cowboys... (bows and arrows, gunfights, etc.) I think I just officially put that on my to-do list!

And I would so yes, to the arch enemy thing... but I bet not all fans would agree on which team it is.

Some obvious teams - Jets-Dolphins, Bears- Packers, Chiefs-Raiders, and I thought Redskins-Cowboys.

I'm sure game day is much more fun for you. I only get to see the Redskins when they play the Houston Texans or the Dallas Cowboys or on Sunday night or Monday night football.

I 'watch' the game on the NFL.com livecast page (with the little helmet pictured on the field).

One year when Pitt was having a disastrous season (they fired their coach) and the game was at Pitt, some WVU students were cruising around Pittsburgh, hanging out of their car, chanting, "BEAT PITT! BEAT PITT!" A bystander yelled back, "YOU CAN'T BEAT PITT!!!" To which the WVU students replied, "WHY NOT? EVERYBODY ELSE HAS!!!"

And then there was the year we finally beat Penn State after 39 years. The fans rushed the field and the goal posts came down. They were parading pieces of the goal posts through Sunnyside (the student slum) that night.

I live 3 States and 8 hours away, but I'll always cheer for the Mountaineers.
