Eleanor Burns' Victory Quilt Book

Has anyone made one of these yet, or any of the blocks?



I just bought it, thinking it would be a perfect gift quilt for a friend of mine who loves all things WWII-era as a history buff.



The blocks are divided in "skill level". Some of them look really hard to me. Difficult to understand the directions even. I did "egg money" but it seemed so much easier.



I don't consider myself a novice, but those 3-star "skill level" blocks just made my head hurt trying to understand. Maybe it'll all fall together once I'm actually doing it. I guess I should just jump in there with both feet and see what happens. But I'd love some feedback from someone who's worked out of this book. Thank you Sherry

I'm afraid I can't give you any experience from this book; but from working with another couple where the instructions seemed incomprehensible at first glance. I always leap into a book when I first get it, and try to skip-read through. I thought I would never make anything, because I couldn't understand/follow the instructions at all - even with diagrams. *However, as soon as I had a piece of fabric in my hands and did the work step by step: reading then doing, it all worked just fine.

Perhaps if you do a few practice blocks (if there are blocks), with spare fabric, you'll find that you can understand it all OK. . In message , Sherry writes

I think that's what I need to do. When I did Egg Money, I was *very* novice. I did scrap blocks, and just went methodically step-by-step through the instructions. The level of difficulty though, seems definitely higher than with Egg Money.
