EOT (eventually on topic)

Pat, I thought your way is the way you're supposed to do it - that's how we check for washed/unwashed in our house!

I hate suction thingies! We used to have one in the shower to hold a bar of soap. One night, when I was home alone (DH was working graveyard that night), the suction thingie came loose and the soap fell into the tub making a horrible noise. Nearly scared me to death. Never used any suction type hangie-uppies ever again!

I have never understood the need to post on the outside of a dish washer if it is clean or dirty. With my messy family you could just take a quick look and tell the difference. You must pre-wash the dishes before you put them in the dish washer. I learned long ago that if I ran the dishwasher at night my husband would put away the dishes while he waited for his coffee to finish in the morning. He would notice that the washer had run because his favorite coffee mug was not sitting by the coffee pot.

I try to do that too. Doesn't always work... But if it fails, then James gets it to empty when he gets in from school. :)

Here we finally realized that if we put the soap in the dishwasher when starting to load it we could easily tell if it had been run or not.

I always run the Dishwasher at night for the same reason - in fact I will do anything to avoid running it at any other time!

They also make some other little thingy that I think is intend for cords. Works just the same only smaller and shouldn't be able to hook your clothes. It is basically a small closed hook you would have to slide the hanger into. I use the comand line all over the house and have never had any issues with them coming of when I don't want or not coming off cleanly when I do. You do somewhat have to watch the weight and make sure you use the appropriate sized hook however, but for this there should be no worries.

Oh Susan,

I hope your husband never develops dementia for that matter, I hope no one else ever develops it but I am sure it will happen. My dad use to empty the dishwasher and now he doesn't even notice it has been run. I use to stay in bed on the mornings after I washed dishes until I would hear him finish empty it. I don't mind filling it up but for some reason I hate emptying it, but it is now my job again. He first quit drying the dishes I hand washed and then he quit the dishwasher. Only way he will remember to empty it now is if all his cereal bowls are empty and rarely can I wait that long to wash dishes.

Oh for crying out loud, Charlotte. I just learned bling and blog. Now you imagine that I have a clue what you mean by cord and command line? I don't know whether to look at the computer store or the army/navy surplus. Baffled. Polly

LOL!! Sorry. Didn't mean to confuse you Polly. Maybe you want to try one of the other suggestions.

In case you are still interested: They are available at places like Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, etc. You should find them in with the finish nails, screw in hooks etc, (I get my from DDad, but know I've seen them in that vicinity). Lowe's may also carry them as well, although I'm not sure what department. The 3M name for the special adhesive is command strips so their hooks are command hooks. They have different styles, and different sizes all using the same type of adhesive that just pulls off. The one that I was referring to is the bottom right here:

You can also check out all the other types they make by following the links.

I just love the little buggers. Like I said before I use them a lot around my home - cabinets, doors, walls, the new fireplace, shower, and will soon have some in my new sewing area to organize my tools. Not only do they not let loose unexpectedly unlike suction cups (hate the little buggers), but the surface doesn't have to be perfectly smooth to get them to stick. I have some on a textured wall by the back door for winter coats and they hold just fine.

I have used the hooks; they work well. I have even bought them at the grocery store. I didn't realize that they had such a variety of Command products. 3M makes lots of good stuff. I grew up in a town where a lot of the tape products were produced, and my sister-in-law is retired from

3M, so we've seen and used lots of 3M products.

Well, how wonderful. Thank you so much, Charlotte. Finishing nails section? Yes, I can find that. I may forget about putting a pig on the dishwasher and go get control of all the wandering cords and lines around here. Major big thank-yous, Polly

LOL!!! You are welcome. I didn't realize they made so many different ones until I was trying to find you a picture. All mine are the med, large or jumbo white ones or the sm. cord hook I was trying to describe. I think I'm off to find some too. So, thank YOU Polly!!

I can answer that one :) Yes, you can, though I think you need a new strip of "sticky". The hooks that I have came with an extra strip, for when you want to move it.

Exactly right Julia.

If you don't have and extra one they sell them separately. Unfortunately the only ones I found in the store were in a multi pack of the various sizes, but I think they also have individual sized ones too, or at least they used to. Look for the 'command removable mounting strips'. To me the package makes them look like another product in the line so to speak, but that is it.

One of the things that occurred to me as I was looking at some of those is that they might even make small quilt hangers. If a dowel could be held by them, 2 of them supporting the dowel, which is through the quilt sleeve. small quilt of course. Easy to put up/change/etc.

Ideas............
