First Lesson

I had my first lesson yesterday and was very disappointed. The class started at 6.00pm I got there at 5.30 to meet the instructor and to make sure that I had brought everything, SM, fabric, cutting board, ect. I showed her the photo of the quilt I wanted to make, she told me that it was way beyond my talent and that I should stick to sewing squares. I told her that I am a home dressmaker ( I made my daughters wedding dress for heavens sake) I can sew. For 2 hours I sat and watched the other ladies make their quilts, she wouldn't even let me cut my fabric. I got the feeling she didn't want me there being a beginner. Is that normal for a first lesson and should I go back. Hubby said I should just make it at home and if I get stuck just ask you ladies and men for advise. I've posted a picture of the quilt so please give me your opinion. Up date on boys. One had to have his big toe nail removed, other one had loose skin cut away. Skate boards put away. Hopefully out of sight out of mind.
