When you are machine embroidering doilys and bowls, do you use heavier weight thread than what you use for regular embroidery? This is for freestanding. I use the 40 weight robison anton. dreamboat

I personally don't use anything thicker than a 50wt for this technique with 2 layers of solvy stabilizer. The number of stitches and over- stitching involved isn't a pretty sight when the thread builds up too much in any one area. I sometimes also use a layer of netting with the solvy if the edges of the piece are not too intricate for close trimming after the design is stitched out. jennellh

I use 40 wt. for all my bowls, and I've done a LOT of them. Gen
