I'm embarrassed to even be on the same page as the topic about the Paducah winners, but here is my humble FO. It took about 4 years, but it's finished!

I love your fabric/color choices and the way you've arranged them. A quilt to cherish with memories. Good for you, Joan. Happy Dancing for you. Polly

Joan, it is beautiful. Don't you dare be embarrassed about being close in time to the Paducah winning thread. Your work is gorgeous too.

This quilt is so lovely, with the combination of memories it holds, as well as the embroidery and pretty fabrics. It is a treasure pure and simple. It must have been difficult for you to finish, in the special circumstances; but I'm so glad you did. Your Mom will be beaming down; and going round heaven telling all those she meets to look down and see what her gifted daughter has just done.

I hope you can look at it with pride and love - and not too much painful sadness.

(Thanks for the tip about the magnifying glass - never seen that before). . In message , joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska writes

That's lovely Joan. What are the embroideries? You and you mother shared such wonderful work together. Thank you for letting us share part of her with you.

Gee I wish I had written this! I want to underline everything Pat said! She put it much more beautifully than I did. (I hadn't noticed the magnifying glass either.)

I love the setting! It took a little study to see it was basically and snowball and nine patch blocks set on point. Wonderful! You obviously have your mother's talent.

Joan, this is precious and wonderful. First, it's beautifully designed and executed. Just lovely. More important, it was created with love and joy, not with an eye to impressing judges or winning prizes. That makes your quilt something none of the Paducah winners will ever be -- a joyful, loving memory dedicated to your love for your mother and hers for you.

Did you do the embroidery by hand or by machine? I love the colours in your 9patch block - so complementary!

Lovely quilt! I like the setting - frames the embroidered blocks nicely. Allison

Awwww. My favorite quilts combine embroidery and piecing. You've got something really special there. We all should be so lucky.

There's nothing to be embarrassed about, Joan! Your quilt is lovely! Could we have some close-ups of the greenwork? :)

Oops! *Now* I see the magnifying glass -- and that let me see the greenwork more clearly. You did a wonderful job combining those with your piecing! :)
