happy dance

After living with my parents for over 8 months, my mother is being discharged from hospice and DH and I are moving on with our life and into an apartment. I will again have a sewing room or at least a room to store my fabric other than a storage unit. I can hardly wait. Oh, and it appears I have a part time job as well. I'll know more on that around Thanksgiving.

You have been a real trooper on all of this, Mary, and have held your head high.

Thanks, Ginger. Moving will be kinda slow and tiring but worth it in the end. (Apt is on 3rd floor) This weekend I will be making table toppers for the three hospice workers that have been such a tremendous help and so supportive of me and what I've tried to do.

Thanks, Sandy. Apartment living may take some getting used to but I'm sure we will adjust. It's been about 30 years since we left apt living for houses. We are planning to make this home for at least a year.

Yard work is one thing I do not miss. At the apt we will have a deck and a porch area where I can have flowers. That is plenty of gardening for me. This is also a top floor end unit so we don't have to be concerned about noise from neighbors. Right now I have plenty of sewing time. All I've been doing for my parents is breakfast and dinner cooking. In fact, I have put my projects on hold and making table toppers for the hospice team members. (3)

That's a great outcome, Mary. It's been a tough couple of years for you both + your parents. I really do hope things will go extremely well for you from now on. Your Mom probably won't get best health back, but if it's enough that you don't have to worry every minute, that will still be good.

Have fun setting up the apartment! . In message , maryd writes

It's hard to decide what's the best part of all that good news, but I would be so excited to get my hands on my treasures that have been in a storage unit. We're thinking about storing things so we can have decent floors put in. I'm not sure I can do that. You have survived a mighty tough time, Mary. We are so proud of you and happy for you. Polly

Piggybacking:

What a neat thing to happen before the Holidays for you. sounds like you're close enuf to check on your folks daily which will help with the stress level.

Unpack the gotta-haves, then SEW a bit daily.make time for YOUR time.

Butterfly (sure wish I knew to do that when we were constantly moving)

Thanks, Pat. I'm really looking forward to having our place again. My brother said we can use his truck if needed.

Thanks, Polly. I think we will keep some things in storage for now and move in slowly instead of moving everything at once and feeling overwhelmed. We were in the last place a year and never did get unpacked completely. It never felt like home

Thanks, Butterfly. It will be nice to have a home for the holidays. I'll be less than 2 miles from the folks but will probably keep visits to bi-weekly. They have info on services available and will have to make needed contacts.
