Celebrating Texas Independence Day here in the sunshine, cool temps, light breeze (hey, we don't get that much cool weather here, have to enjoy it while we can! ). Celebrations call for food, but which ones? Bar-b-que, fajitas, tortillas, enchiladas, grilled shrimp, jambalaya, crawfish, chicken-fried steak, a big ol' T-bone, an original Tx. hamburger (Athens claims to be the birth place of the hamburger), black-eyed peas, bratwurst, fried okra, peach cobbler, pecan pie... oh, the list is almost endless, and delicious. I think we'll start w/ some chips and homemade salsa and whatever comes in-between we'll finish w/ a fabulous dessert including a scoop of Bluebell Ice Cream. Oh, yum! Quilters gotta' eat!

Some Texas quilts:

Let the celebration continue!

Tomorrow is Sandy's birthday!

And March 4 is Casimir Pulaski's birthday -- in Illinois, it will be celebrated on Monday, March 5. (Here is more information about him:

March 4 is also my Mother's birthday. And if it weren't for her, there would be no me.

...and my son shares his birthday with Sandy. He is a tad younger though. He is at his new job and in the paper online:

Are you celebrating Casimir Pulaski's birthday because you have the day off?

Happy TI Day, Sandy and all the other Texans (and would-be Texans) in the group!

As to which food to eat to celebrate--how about all of them? They all sound enticing and delicious!

It's not a day off for public libraries -- our last holiday was New Year's Day and our next one will be Memorial Day.
