Kathyl, I'm *so* glad you posted that! I saw a tiny snippet of it on the morning news today, and I was sorry I'd missed the rest. It just goes to show that appearances aren't everything. I sat here and cried as I listened -- that song always gets to me, and her rendition of it was beautiful and very appropriate to her own situation. I *really* hope she gets a shot at a singing career! I'd buy a CD of hers in a flash.

Thanks for posting this, Kathyl. I daren't watch the programme, because I can't bear to see some of the people ridiculed and humiliated. I read briefly about Susan's being on the programme, and I so wanted to see it, but I just couldn't. It was wonderful to see that she got such a good reaction. . In message , KJ writes

Then this is certainly the best way to see it! Wait until it's the talk of the town, then watch to share in her success! The crowd didn't take long to recognize her talent!

Ditto for me too! I saw some mention in our newspaper, but didn't bother to read it thru. Thanks so much for posting this Kathy - she's already a hit around the world now!

Especially after the NBC evening news. They had a short segment, with the web site posted on MSNBC, that they advised people to check on. Gen

I agree. I watched it again, and this time I cried. I was too amazed last night; but today the emotions were running high. Thanks *so* much Kathyl. . In message , KJ writes

Simon's face was a total picture. I've never seen anyone get their just deserts quite so thoroughly. :D

He's nice eye candy, but it was fun to see him taken down several pegs.

Someone posted this on RCTN yesterday. Most of us decided that the shock wouldn't have been as great if the woman had looked differently. First thing that came to my mind was the old, very TRUE, saying "Never judge a book by its cover"! I watched it a second time with my eyes closed and just listened to her singing -- what a treat. Plain as wholemeal bread, and just as wholesome. She has a lovely expression. A good hair cut, a little eyebrow tweaking, and a more flattering frock, and she's have looked amazing. As it was, I didn't think she looked at all bad, and I loved her bubbly personality and genuine pleasure at dropping the judges right in their prejudices!
After all, think about Joan Sutherland... No great beauty there, but a voice to melt mild steel, and good make-up artists!
