Help -Baby shower suggestions!

Hi Everyone, I am trying to organise a baby shower for my daughter but don't have any idea on how to make it fun, and figured my good old creative quilting friends might have some suggestions.

The Name Game - stand everyone in a circle and pick an alphabet letter with either girls or boys names. First person to repeat a name on each letter sits down. Keep going on a letter until you can think of no other names or change letters when the first person has been eliminated. Prize for the last one standing.

and enter "baby shower games" I got lots of possible websites for you to look at. One of them has "baby bingo", and some are have baby shower games in their website name. Also, here are some ideas from some baby showers that i have attended:

1-"baby" name. Each attendee gets a diaper pin/safety pin, or clothes pin and pins it somewhere visible. If they say the word "baby" and are overheard, the person who herad it gets to claim the pin. This can continue until the end of the night, and the person with the most pins at the end gets a prize.

2-Another variation, instead of saying "baby", they can't cross their legs, including ankles. Again, she with the most wins

3-Poopy diapers - fold napkins so that they look like cloth diapers. In 1 or 2, depending on how many attendees you have, drop in a couple of chocolate covered raisins. whoever finds the raisins wins a prize

4-Memory game - have a try with a variety of baby items (spoons, thermometer, trial sizes of powder, shampoo, etc., diaper pins, pacifier, small toys, etc.). Walk the tray around the room allowing everyone to get a good look at the items on the tray - nobody is allowed to write until EVERYONE has had a chance to look at the tray. Put the tray away, and give them 15-30 seconds (you choose) to list as many things as they can remember. When time is up, they must stop writing. You read off the items that were on the tray, and they check off what they had correct. The person/people with the highest number get a prize.

5-pins and rice. This was actually done at my bridal shower, but it could work at a baby shower. Combine small pins and uncooked rice in a bowl. Each person gets a turn to spoon out as many pins without looking in the bowl (hold the bowl above eye-level). Person with the most gets a prize.

One i remember distinctly.... Buy 5 to 10 jars of #1 baby foods... number them on the bottom and write down somewhere what they are. Making certain a few are the same color and try for some that are totally off the wall foods. (I think we had veal, turkey, spinach, green beans, peas, carrots, yams, squash, bananas, pears, applesauce ) Then take off the lables, pass them around (still sealed). Let each person have a sheet of paper numbered 1-5(or 10 or whatever). See who can guess the most correctly.

We had a blast with this at my baby shower... there were all age ranges there too, some hadn't yet had babies and some with great grands.

will look around to see if i can find more ideas. Kellie

Peg Game. Have heaps of pegs on the line (preferably holding freshly washed baby things). Each person has a turn taking off and holding as many pegs as they can in their hands without dropping any. Most pegs wins a prize. Helps train for those sudden rain showers too! Hope the party is heaps of fun.

In this game you don't taste though.. you just guess by looking at the jar w/o the label on it... which is good, cause the 1st babyfoods (just one ingredient) are still pretty gross... when the baby gets a bit older the foods get more interesting.

I made a lot of my own too! But there are a few that i will still buy as backups for my toddler.... one with blueberries, another that is apple/sweet potato, a chicken and wildrice.... Since she is allergic to lots of stuff i can take these with me as an addendum to whatever little bit of food she CAN eat at a restaurant...

Another fun one it to have a ball of twine and have each guest cut off a piece equal to what they think the Mom-to-be's waistline will measure. Then try them out. The one to come closest is the winner.
