maybe this will work
Beautiful quilt -- But I think if it were me -- I think I would actually accentuate the linear nature of the piecing... Like maybe "echoing" the lines -- I would probably do
1/4" in from each outside edge of each piece... not crossing at the corners... so it would be a bit like concentric blocks. In my opinion -- something flowery or curvy would be lost in the pattern...
Just my 2 cents...

anything too linear.
Howdy!
Why not put those oil wells on there and have spirals coming out of the top, like a "gusher" with oil spraying everywhere? Lots more spirals than wells.
I'd go for the echo quilting, myself, w/ some quilted wells hidden within the overall scheme.

Howdy!
Best wishes to your nephew and his family.
F-i-l is doing well (thanks for asking); he's a good patient, had the surgery, came home the next day; so did I. Kind of "guilted" their daughter to spend time w/ her parents, and she finally understood; she's there, we go back tomorrow. Hmmm...The Flying Needle is right there on the way to their house... .
I'm completing a quilt for a little girl (youth minister's daughter turns 1 yr. old in August; I've been "minding" her for several months, adorable, smart child); the Pink & Purple Princess quilt just demanded stars quilted into it. I drew the stars w/ the help of my handy little protractor (straight edge), the quilt is covered w/ various sizes of stars-- too cute! And it's a fun quilt, an I-Spy in large 1/2 square triangles, rows of lights & darks circling the center squares. Fun!
Anyway, now I need to Finish and get back to the next project.
Cheers!
Ragmop/Sandy -- Hidden Wells reminds me of traveling thru' the Piney Woods in east Texas, come around a curve and there's an oil well rig dipping and nodding back there in the field...
