Homepage

I don't have a homepage; when I open my browser, I prefer a blank page. Then I go wherever I want from there.

On my "work machine" I keep no homepage ... but I do on my personal (lappie) ... its got wireless internet connection and I *need* a homepage most days so I can make sure I'm actually *on* the internet!! If I don't see EQ's site pop up, then I know I have to go and crawl under furniture to restart the router and/or modem. And with my knees, and my huge butt, that's a real pain.

I love *being* wireless, but I can't stand the futzing around with the network card, router, etc that goes with it!! Grrrr!!

My homepage is something I made and keep on my hard drive. It has my favorite links with some login reminders. It's just easier than looking through my mountains of Favorites.

The way I tell whether I'm connected is if my WeatherBug shows me a temperature. Otherwise I have to go through the same under-the-desk routine. And when the cat wants to check it out with me, there is even less room!

I use excite.com. I have it customized to suit me. It has my ball teams, my local weather, my local theater schedule, my favorite links, and so on. You can change the background for seasons, holidays, nature, animals, etc.

Els, I knew what it was, just didn't know what it was called. My use of the blank page is for the very same reason as you give. I hate wasting the time waiting for it to load.

I don't have one. We have DSL and the computer is "always" connected. My g-mail and newsgroup connections usually sit in the bottom toolbar and I click on whatever to start up. If I have to restart I click on the Firefox or Thunderbird link and get going.

My Webshots page. I try to reply to everyone who makes a nice comment on my pictures, and since I am now joining in some of the photo challenge contests listed on the Webshots blog I am getting comments almost daily.

Oh, that was implied, Debra! And I'm always amazed that you artistic types have the picture you want in your head. If I happen to get a decent picture, it's purely by accident.

You artistic types? Ha! That's so funny! I'm never sure how they will actually look until I get to view them on the computer. It really is hit and miss. You just don't get to see the huge number of bad ones.

I must be doing something right though because there are folks all over the world looking at my pictures and sometimes leaving nice comments about them. I find that amazing since most of them have far better cameras than my little point and shoot. Debra in VA See my quilts at:

Ha. Some of the best photographers started out with a super-cheapie 35 mm camera and the worst quality film ever.

It's talent that drives the images you take ... not some fancy-schmancy camera with all the doodads and whazzits. It's a good eye that frames the shots and decides what looks good where and how.

So ... take the much deserved compliment!! I work with VERY talented photogs quite often and I can tell you: you'd give them, with their digital SLRs, and their fancy-schmancy art degrees, a run for their money!!

BTW, each photo shoot I've ever been a part of uses at LEAST 10 rolls of film (back when we used film - now it's the age of the digital SLR) - that's about 240 shots just to get ONE good one. :)
