How do you bookmark specific topics?

Is there a way to mark specific topics within the group? Very often I would like to follow all of the post to specific topic but have not found a way to flag that topic to keep from having to remember the name of the topic and then having to go through all topics to find it.

try clicking to the left hand side (beneath the spectacles icon) of a message in the topic you want to watch. The whole group of mailings should turn red and a column of spectccles will show up. Works in outlook express - don't know about other email programmes

With Google...click the little star near the title of the post -- then you can click hte link that sasy something about viewing starred topics....

With Netscape Newsreader, you can click the "flag" spot and find posts quickly that way (I *think* they would still have that option -- I haven't used Netscape newsreader in many years)

good luck, Tricia

I'm glad this came up. I didn't know you could do that. What a handy little tidbit!

It probably depends on how you are reading the group. I use Outlook Express to read the group. In OE, you highlight the message, go to the Message menu, and choose "Watch conversation".

You appear to be in google so you will have to click the star, then veiw starred topic when you want to look it up again. Google is not the most convenient interface for usenet groups.

That it isn't but it is my only option these days....(no independent newsserver that I can access -- if I could, I'd be back to something like Netscape -- which I understood how to use -- in a hurry)

When you have time, do a google search useing the string :

"news servers" +free

There are about eightbajillion, the whole trick is sorting out the few dozen that allow posting as well as reading.

I _think_ I know one, but you may want to have a geek-in-waiting to try it. email me if you want to check into it.
