I don't like this one little bit

I bought an external one, but couldn't install it -- because I needed to install the drivers (off a cd) before plugging it in to get it to work.

See a slight problem here?

You could try going to the manufacturer's website & downloading the drivers from there. They might even be newer drivers than what would have been found on the CD.

Tried that, too, but it didn't work.

I think this 7 year old computer is going to get replaced sometime later this spring. We're talking about getting a "high-end" computer in kit form and putting it together ourselves. For the cost of a cheapy we'll end up with a nice one that will last, hopefully, another 6-7 years that way. :-)
