I'm back :)

I've been away for almost a week -- my, but everyone was chatty while I was gone! I've had to mark everything as "read" and start over.

I went to Phoenix and stayed with my quilt buddy, and we both took a couple of classes at Quilting in the Desert. No big surprise -- I took two of Sharon Schamber's classes (I'm becoming something of a junkie for her classes ), both of which were very interesting and informative -- as always.

My friend and I also made *six* of those hard pressing surfaces while I was there. The original idea was to make one large one for each of us, but there was all of this wood left over .... We each ended up with two large ones (40" x 24") and one smaller one (24" x 19" I think). We did a lovely job on them, but we've definitely decided that we're not going into business making more of them. Still, I'll probably try to get rid of one of the large ones; there's a limit on what I can use -- or even store!

Welcome back, Sandy! Sounds like a fun visit in Phoenix. Okay, I'm going to show my ignorance here, but what are those "hard pressing surfaces"?

Thanks, Michelle. Sharon Schamber is a huge proponent of using a pressing surface that isn't soft in order to get accurate and crisp seams. Here's how to make one: .
