I'm Back

Hi All

I finally got back home to Alaska last Friday. So good to be eating home cooking and sleeping in my bed again.

Family visits were really good. Arrived in time for my niece's HS graduation party, took Mom to her class reunion, visited my aunts, did some maintenance around Mom's house, visited Grandma (90 years old), did some maintenance on my cottage back there, visited with my neighbors (son is now a doctor, I knew him from grade school, I'm feeling old), and just sat and talked with Mom and we hand-sewed together on the deck looking out over the lake. It was in the 90's when I got there, then 60's while 80's in Alaska, then 80's. Also had a really good thunderstorm while there. Haven't stood in the window at night in years while watching nature's show.

Then off to Anaheim. Was up at 4:30 to get there and arrived at noon and of course my room wasn't ready. Walked around a bit but was just poopted, so I sat down a corner in the lobby and pulled out the applique blocks and got busy with things. Well, it was the Triennial Episcopal meeting and there were several thousand church people all around the hotel and covention center so I was on my best behavior. Let's just say that there is nothing like a man hand-sewing to have people stop to chat. I met people from all over the world which was really cool.

My school club meeting went fairly well. We got most of our competition tests audited, edited and in some cases rewritten. Still work to do on that but stuff like this never ends. Always something to update and change in the world of education. I've taken on the chair of the finance contest group for next year so a bit more on my to do list but mostly by email during the year and not much more during summer meeting.

Taria and I weren't able to meet up. My free days didn't mesh with hers and I was so busy that I wasn't able to visit the LQS she recommended. The airport shuttle took me right past it though at 5:30 in the morning.

So, back home and digging in to the bathroom remodel while the new furnace and water heater are being installed. College friends due August 1 and school starts again August 11. No rest for the wicked as they say. I've gotten through most of the message headlines and it looks like everyone is doing quite well. Isn't that good.

Good to be back

It's good to see you back, Steven. You've accomplished so much this 'holiday'. Your mind will be refreshed, even if your body is exhausted! And it's amazing that you still managed to fit in some sewing. How lovely to be sewing companionably with your Mom - must have been a great feeling - for both of you. . In message , steve writes
