I'm delighted!

Yesterday I wanted to go to my favorite quilt shop. There happens to be a big flea market next door so I can sometimes entice DH to go with me because he collects pocket knives. We got there a few minutes before the quilt shop opened so I strolled through the flea market. I found a Singer 99K hand crank machine!

I have long been intrigued by these little machines. I think it was probably converted from a treadle, but it is in absolutely fabulous condition and it makes such a pretty little stitch. It was made in 1955 (my birth year!) and if anyone has ever sewn on it, they were sure careful, because the decals are all intact and the enamel is fine. I always wondered how you guided the fabric with one hand, but it seems to go alright. Slow, but fine.

It is sitting in a handmade box that weighs just as much as the machine does, so it's not easy to move from place to place. No cover.

Ha! Just LET my stinkin electricity go off again. I'll show them!
