Overlocker Problem

Jan 20, 2009 3 Replies

Hi, Can anyone help me please. I have a Janome 8100D overlocker which has been working fine.

However, the thread in the left needle keeps breaking. My differential is fine. It works for so long then snaps. The only way it does not snap is if I have the tension on 1.5 and the rest of the tensions on 3. However this does not give a very strong seam.

Any advice please!!!

When the left needle tension is on 1.5, how do the stitches look?

Check the needle plate and loopers for burrs.

If it snaps, then it is likely catching on something. I'd try to find what it's catching on. Perhaps something is stuck inside the tension dics?

Also, try new needles.

Good luck.

Dull knives can cause thread breakage. To check take a single strand of thread, place it as far back in the knives as it will go, with the knives fully open, and then turn by hand in the operating direction. Observe the thread, if it cuts clean knives ok if it is pushed towards you they are dull.
