I'm going to buy a new machine- recommendations?

Hi all, I have sold my house, and promised to buy myself a sewing machine as a reward to myself for all my hard work necessary to get it sold. Now, my dilemma, I want to spend up to 1500 american dollars. I have just learned how to quilt, and am enjoying it. I presently own a Janome 4618 LE, and am quite happy with it. Everyone in my class had Berninas and I was not so sure of what the fuss was until I took an Activa White Pearl- 230- for a "test drive" at a nearby sewing machine store. I was very impressed. I loved the constant sewing speed feature, along with the blanket stitch that looks great. Now, I haven't looked yet at my local sewing machine store where they sell Janome's. I have no interest in embroidery. I have heard stories of Bernina's not being reliable and having many trips to be fixed.

With all these comments, could people give me some advice?

Thanks so much Priscilla

There is a "what machine should I buy" FAQ.

Read that first. What "fits" you may not be what others would recommend, so make a real effort to test drive before you buy. And take advantage of any free classes.
