I'm Reformed

Well, after you guys laughed at me for thinking a 10" square of fabric was a useless scrap, I have been dutifully saving every piece of fabric down to 2" squares.

Not that I have a clue what I'll do with them. I tried a string quilt and don't think I have the patience to go past the one block I made. That was slow work, for me anyway.

I'll post again when I have enough to mail. Hopefully someone here can use them. It's all very good quality fabric, mostly Moda. Just nothing larger than a foot square or so.

Well just think, now you have a string block for a sampler quilt. All you need is more blocks that are the same size as the string block.

String blocks are slow? Wow--I'm in a Yahoo group whose sole project is string blocks. We find them addicting. (The trick is to make a bunch of string blocks at a time, chain-stringing to a foundation. That way you get up to press a bunch at a time.)

That said, 2" squares are excellent "leaders and enders" when you're sewing something else. Get all the scoop on leaders and enders, and great ways to use scraps, at Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville:

Well, put me down as a possible scrap recipient. I love working with bits and pieces! And I will be happy to reimburse you for your postage and add a few fat quarters into the bargain.

Oh, absolutely. I'd just be happy to send them on to someone who can use them.

2" seems just a bit on the large side to me! Love those scraps! I'm on a scrap binge at the moment, so you're welcome to send them over. Or make some of Polly's Heartstrings blocks (see later post). Roberta in D, Queen of the Scrap Heap

I have a box started for you ladies, thank you for responding! You'll have to send me your unmunged e-mail addresses sometime so I can get a mailing address from you. (I'm not on the group mailing list). Don't worry about postage. I've gotten a lot of help and gleaned a lot from this group, it's just a way to give back. :-)

I've also taken the liberty to include some larger pieces that are so ugly it scares me to look at them. I've lost the ability to throw away fabric, so I'll put that burden on you :-)

Thanks

Sherry

I love both scraps and Moda fabrics. Did a "string" sampler that I think we got a pic of. (Actually have pictures of some of the quilts taken and on the computer..... and on CD so DH can get them onto the website when we get some "issues" worked out. )

And a foot square, or 10" square.... well there are always "Nickel Quilts" and various charm quilts. And they can always be cut into strips, then rectangles for scrappy Brick quilts. Make great, fast donation quilts.
