Jessamy's Starry Starry Night Block Swap

Is it still a go? Some folks have been asking about a mailing address for a couple of weeks now.

Anybody know? Has Jessamy gotten overwhelmed by a heavy dose of "life" lately?

Should I just plan to keep my stars?

I've got 5 sets sitting here waiting for their paper labels.

There was a message starting the final countdown last week, though centralised - not from Jessamy.

Jessamy is probably just giving people time to finish before issuing the final instructions - I did find them more time consuming than I envisaged, but as I'd got 5 sets (plus an extra one of each for me) all cut out and prepared at the beginning, thought I'd do all 5.

I'm sure we will hear something next week.

Yes, I e-mailed her yesterday morning, and this morning had a message from Heidi that she had also e-mailed her, but no reply yet.

Jessamy has set up 31st May as a date to post the stars to her, and probably has a note on her calender for next week saying 'send out address and return postage details' and is unaware of any concerns.

Personally I am quite happy to wait - but I was trained to be a conformist from an early age! Mine are 'tagged and bagged' and waiting the starting pistol. I am lucky in that I have a little pile of Euros left from my holiday in France last year for the return postage. I had saved them for a local group who were going wine shopping to France in the Autumn and needed coins for the supermarket trolleys, but they didn't need all of them!

I thought May 31 was the DEADLINE for mailing. I always thought a deadline was the last date for something to occur. I know there are a lot of people who consider deadlines to be the first opportunity for completing some task -- I've always thought it was the last opportunity. I guess it's one of those cultural differences. I should have clarified before I got involved.

So if May 31 is the first day for mailing, then I'll wait until school is out and mail around June 11. Too much work at the end of the school year to worry about trying to get to the post office between the end of the school day and the closing time for the post office. No way can I get to the post office ON May 31.

Thanks for clarifying the date. That takes a weight off! (Maybe I should have known better than to sign up for something that really wasn't starting until the busy time of my school year. No wonder everybody thought I was so strange for doing my stars when the swap was announced.) So it's now off my May to-do list and pushed to mid-June. Aaaaaaah. . . .(That's a sigh of relief.)

I thought we could mail now - mine are going at the weekend when I've sorted out a big enough envelope. I started mine early too - like to get things out of the way rather than a last minute rush. Then time slipped by, and although they were finished 2 weeks ago, that felt like last minute to me!

If I post them on Monday they wont arrive until at least June 1st.

actually may 31st is the last day to mail but as I said in my post and the email to the swap group life happened and I was slow in giving my snail mail addy which is why you didn't get it till yesterday. the one thing I forget is that the USA has *huge* summer holidays that start early in the season - here we won't get the start of the holiday till the end of June and the kids will be back to school 6 weeks later and last year the summer holiday didn't start till the end of July

Ooops, I guess I have a problem then. We're at the end of our school year. That means late days getting final grades and students' makeup work graded. Unfortunately we have this ridiculous system in this particular school where students have to come in outside of class time to show that they have mastered the basic Algebra skills. I'm still at school when the post office closes. It will be that way probably through June 5. I will get all my nametags on this weekend so I can mail the minute I have "free" time when the post office is open.
