It's in her latest Mariner's Compass book, Donna. I saw her demonstrate the method on a tape of Simply Quilts. I don't have the book. I watched the tape a few times, then made notes! Sorry I can't really help. I would usually try to explain a technique here for someone who wanted to know how to do something; but this really would be impossible to explain just in writing. Sorry. By the way, I don't think it is an easier method, necessarily, but it is new. . In message , Donna Aten writes
Not so! (smile) Yours had additional information. . In message , Sandy writes
I wonder if the video can be found on the Simply Quilts site - I am sure that some can. Will have to look when I have time to play later on. At the moment I have a heavy schedule coupled with a cold!
I have the book, didn't see the video.
If you ever do paper piecing, in my opinion it is worth getting the book just for the method, even if you never want to do a mariners compass quilt.
And no, I would not know how to explain only in writing either. Sorry!

I obviously don't read/watch what I already have!! I just jump in with both feet!
There wasn't a video on their 'telly in your computer' thingy, but was a picture lesson there
I've just listened to the Carol Doark DVD again (the one that came with
50 Fab. pp Stars, and her basting idea seems easy. However, you still end up with thick crossing seams where normally you would 'nestle'.As I have pp paper to use up I will try the basting method until its gone! In the meantime I will have a play with the Judy M method, so I will have cracked it when I start to use it.
Thanks Sandy for your help.
Thanks Pat - I have my J.M book at the ready, and my roll of Freezer Paper too.
The first lesson I had on paper piecing the shop was selling it to students at £1 a yard. When I got home I had lost mine (must have fallen on the floor) so I had to go back for some more. Then I discovered it was only £5 for a whole roll! (over here we buy freezer paper only from quilt stores). Not a bad profit for them.
