Making Caramels

Howdy!

The Dentist just announced that he expects to see a windfall after the first of the year; he's calling the swimming pool landscapers today to schedule a planning session. His wife is signing the rental agreement for her quilt shop.

I always ask my dentist if he has a new car before I let him check my teeth! When he moved up to the fancy new office I asked how much pain I was going to have to endure to pay for it. He said his wife warned him about that. I think my crowns are part of what has me hesitant to do up the caramels! TAria

This is so funny - and true! I had a dental check up etc in early December and, before leaving, I made sure that I knew the emergency number!! . In message , Sandy Ellison writes

Try what I do Taria - cut them into small pieces, then warm them in the palms of my hands to soften them , then suck them very carefully - they rarely, if ever, get anywhere near my teeth >gg< but the roof of my mouth and my tongue are in heaven!! The advantage of warming them in the had before putting them into the mouth is that you can keep a steady input rate going >g< . In message , Taria writes

And why make caramels when you can make marshmallows instead? I think the next batch will be peppermint, possibly some time next week. Yum!

I already have the dentist appointment set for early January -- she'll make enough off me this year even without caramels. I asked her last visit, and she said just after Halloween is her big season. :)

Yeah, it makes a bigger batch than a 9x13. I think I put mine in a half sheet cake pan? Bigger than a jelly roll pan.

The recipe on the Martha Stewart site for fudge covered marshmallows makes a 9 x 13 pan of marshmallows. If you do the fudge only cook it to

230 and then pull it off the heat. So wickedly good.
