Need Help

Hi all.. and thanks Gen for the welcome back! This is the best quilt group ever.... so... here's my dilemna. Several (or more) years ago in Quilters Newsletter Mag was an article on doing a round robin. I think it was called a round the block rr. I know some of you here also did one and what I am looking for are the guidelines so I can type up something for our local quilt group. The one I am looking for starts off with each person making their specific block, then the next rounds requiring specifics such as r1.. as squares, r2 applique. r3 triangles, etc. if the directions are anywhere on the net ... I know someone knows where. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.. Memere Neets

I don't think you need to have 'writ in stone' directions for the 'rounds' (it always amuses me that 'rounds' in this context are always not round!). You can choose your own preferred techniques for each round; and sizes etc. A lot depends on the number in the group and the eventual size of the quilt. I took part in a Row Robin a few years ago. This was fun, because each member of the group had exactly the same amount of 'work' to do. Everyone did one row of blocks and a sashing. There were six, nine inch blocks per row and a 3" strip between. The 'starter' specified the main colours they wanted when they did the first row; and I think one or two people actually sent specific fabric with their row, so that it could be used in each other row. Perhaps you could try our archives on Google for any references to Round or Row Robins? There have been at least a couple in the last couple of years.

Good luck, . In message , Memere Neets writes

Thanks Pat.. I will try that...the group I am in is fairly small, and not knowing how many want to do this, we may have one or two groups of perhaps 5 people. I know thats do-able. I just thought there might be some already tried and true ways to do this. Thanks again.. Memere Neets
