Need help locating fabric....................

Hi: I am new to this group, and wanted to post a note asking of help...My husband and I are trying to locate, native american printed fabric for his "Ribbon shirts" ...We are a Kiowa household(native american) and until Christmas time, purchased a lot of this type of fabric through the Wal-mart super centers...but since Christmas the Wal-mart stores are discontinuing all of their fabric and craft secions....so we now need to find another "good and fairly priced" supplier for his shirts for his Regalia... Please also, we need a source to find the gaberdine material as well for the making of the "Shawls" for the give-aways ..........aho(thank you) for any and all information ........Judy & Wilson SpottedBird

I should think that Joanne's or Hancock's (not Hancock's of Paducah) would be a good place for relatively inexpensive fabrics for your purposes. They have online sites where you can order. Both suppliers would also (probably) carry the gabardine fabric you are seeking. The prints will be Native American themed, but certainly not produced by any Native American group and I would bet the designs are not created by Native Americans, either. However, if your previous source was Wal-Mart, you will Joanne's and Hancock's are comparable suppliers.

HTH.

I bet others on this group have even better ideas. Good luck, Judy!

Seems like lots of people use solid fabric for the shirt as well as prints. Roberta in D

I have ordered from both of them, and their customer service has always been excellent. I love to visit the Southwest Decoratives quilt shop when I am in Albuquerque. I hope this helps you find what you need.

Hi Judy, and welcome! In December, I was looking for Southwest theme fabric, and this site also had some incredibly beautiful Native American theme fabric. I just went to see if they still had it, and they do. I've ordered from them many, many times and the quality of their fabric is always superb and customer service is outstanding. Click on the link and take a look.... they may also have the gaberdine you're looking for. HTH.

All the Wal-Mart stores will no longer have fabric departments after this year. They hope to have everything gone by June. The stores in our area have not been taking any orders for fabric since the end of June.
