Need opinions

Ok, I have struggled through two months of self doubt and a project that wouldn't come together. My Red Riding Hood "quilt" is going great, but is not an overall red project and won't fit the requirement of being 24" X 24". I put together two other attempts, but both were horrible and I have trashed them totally.

Sooooooooooooooooo here

is my final version, deadline tonight. I still have to put the bias binding around the edgesand have a bit more quilting to do. Also I think I'm going to do someembellishing. Depends on how quickly I can get the house vacumned --the round robin group is coming to my house tonight. What do you think? It's supposed to be an art quilt. Supposed to read as red. I know it's not a square, but darn it, I have really fought with this project. I never want to see a red piece of fabric again. Christmas this year is going to be pastel. Or earth tones. Not red. No more red. Unh uh.

Please tell me what you think. It's a Tree of Life, done my style.

Sunny (I'll post another pic when It's completely finished, including close ups) Oh yeah, my sewing machine has a major problem. Tension went totally out of whack and I'm trying to quilt this on an ancient machine salvaged from a school home ec program. Sigh. The quilting on it looks pretty bad.

Sunny, I like it! I think it's a great interpretation of the Tree of Life! If you're really sick of red, I know a good home for it!

Wow, Sunny, your imagination is one to be treasured (even envied?). The tree of life is really great. However, I do mourn the passing of Red Riding Hood. I loved that gal! I hope you have saved her somewhere she can arise from in a future project. You really will have to curb this discouragement gene. I'm hoping it was just the pressure of the imminent deadline which caused you to get major doubts. . In message , Sunny writes

Hi Patti, thanks for the good words. Don't worry, Red Riding Hood is alive and well. The problem is, she wouldn't do the quilt by the rules, LOL. The thing just refused to fit into the requirements. It's by far my favorite project ever and I'm having a blast working on it. Matter of fact, having to finish this project for tonight has left me with no time for fun work for two weeks or more. Bleh. I'll get back to RRH next week. Yay!

Sunny,

It looks wonderful to me. I wouldn't mind haveing it on my wall. (When I have a wall to hang it on that is.)

LOVE IT! I really like the idea of her HIDING amongst the leaves! How clever! I usually do not comment online about a project but this one --just takes the cake.

Butterfly (really makes you use your imagination :)

Sunny, I love the tree of life and the red lampshade on that page also. Of course I love red. I also like pink and blue but most of the time when you see me I have on red.

Whew! I survived the round robin meeting at my house. They all agreed that the Tree of Life works. They actually liked it. I'm really amazed to have my work hanging up along with the other artists' work. These ladies are really outstanding artists who quilt and quilters who make art.

I wasn't the only one whose work wasn't completely finished. I still need to put on the binding and add the information to the back. One of the ladies suggested painting the edges rather than binding them, in keeping with the fuzzy feel of foliage. Maybe. I'll have to look at it and see. Otherwise, I'm spending tomorrow putting on bias binding and then my lovely little Janome goes into the shop. I hope it doesn't cost too much and I hope it's nothing serious. I do want the Janome 6600 someday when I can afford it, but my 5700 is a little dream. I'm afraid though that I sew too much on it, wearing and tearing it more than it's designed to handle.

Ok, I'm prattling. Too much caffeine and excitement. I'm like a kid after a birthday party, LOL.

Gotta go bind my tree. Sunny
