New Machine, Woo Hoo!

I have finally taken the advice I got months ago from several here and I got a new (to me) machine. Remember I am the one with the Singer15-91 that's older than me. A couple years ago I bought a Singer with decorative stitches, etc. What a pile of junk it was. It would not even sew through when two seams on a quilt would meet.

Anyhoo. I am now the proud owner of a Pfaff Classic Style Quilt 2027. The man who comes to service my old 15-91 took it as a trade-in for a lady who wanted to upgrade. He refurbished it and offered it at a real good price and will stand behind its quality.

Don't know much about machines, but I can tell already this one is in a whole different class than that white plastic Singer.I think I am going to love it. She comes to me with her original manual and an instructional CD. A built-in walking foot even. I don't know how old it is but it looks new. I got a big plastic thing with it that makes a larger sewing area. If anyone knows anything about this machine, good bad or indifferent, I'd love to hear it. (And thanks, Sunny, for the encouragement and telling me I *deserved* a machine that would sew right.) It was just waiting until one came along I could afford.

Sherry, you are going to love the Pfaff 2027. I googled to see what it was. It seems to be 'ah, just right!' Pfaffs are well made, you have a dealer to rely on, the 2027 has the stitches you'll need and that cute thing on the back of the foot that keeps the layers lined up is wonderful. Even when she was dropped on her head and badly damaged, my Pfaff kept right on stitching. She could only go backwards after her accident and I don't recommend such treatment - but she could still stitch. 'And' a cd comes with her? How grand. Happy dancing for you. Polly

Thanks everyone! I have had the 9-month-old grandson all weekend, so pretty much all I've done is read the book. Can't wait to get started. I can already see that the quality of this machine is so much better, hands-down, than the little white Singer. You all were so right. It's a better decision to buy the best quality *pre owned* machine, than it is to buy a brand-new low quality one. I knew I didn't have the knowldge to buy one on my own and end up with one that was worn plumb out or had major repair issues. I'm really grateful this one came up available. She's so cute with her purple markings and like Goldilocks, I immediately felt "This one is juuuuust right." It had enough bells & whistles that I needed, but it was still very basic with a manual that was very easy to understand. Thanks to you all for happy dancing with me!

Comin' in late to this dicsussion! Congratulations on your Pfaff, Sherry. You'll love it! While the 15-91 is a great machine the Pfaff definately gives you a lot more options!

And I'm with you -- I'd rather buy used top of the line than new junk :)

Yay!! You definitely deserve a great machine and that's just what a Pfaff is. You're going to love her. I'm so happy for you. When something feels that 'juuuuust right' feeling, isn't it good?

Thanks! Yes, it is! And guess what?? I are a machine-applique-er now. Seriously. I've been applique-ing circles and squares and flowers and leaves and stems and triangles and......it is so cool. And the little applique stitch looks so good! I can't believe it. Now I can try one of those beautiful appliqued quilts that I have drooled over. I don't know how to do anything else with it, but I am an applique-ing fool now.

Sherry, we are all SO happy that you've become an appliquéiac. Now . . . can you please, please drag out that mashed potato boring quilt? Toss some scraps on it and see what might breathe some life into it. Monarch butterflies? Fuchsia poppies? I know of a really good goofy-eyed sheep appliqué. Polly
