by tutors, Beth & Trevor Reid of Canberra. Topic wasContempory Quilts. Their speciality is simple but effective landscapequilts. I struggled to come up with a design without some photos inthe 20 minutes or so allotted, so I drew a few swirls and circles on apiece of paper and came up with this design . Maybe it should becalled Space Landscape! It is my first experience using Vlsifix (sp?)applique.

Gorgeous, as usual, Bronnie! It's a bit reminiscent of Libby Lehman's threadplay, except that it's not thread.

Very eye catching, Bronnie.

Wow! If that's struggling...... I really like it. The quilting on the lower pink ring is an optical illusion, it has an Escher quality to it!

Oh my word! How *do* you do it Bronnie. Time after time - in completely different techniques ... ... You do have some lovely fabrics there to work with, but the design is great - interlocking circles must have been fiddly; but it was so worth it. . In message , Bronnie writes

Nah, the circles weren't fiddly at all - I cut the circles freehand using my baby rotary cutter (1.5cm dia), made one cut across alternate circles and slid them under each other to interlock. The vlsofix was already ironed onto the uncut fabric and it was then easier to layout the whole design, peel off the paper and iron the whole thing. I understand this is not the 'normal' way to do this but I made it up as I went along. I used the digital camera to check I more or less had each circle placed as in the orginal design. the little circles of dots were cut from an aborginal print and they are the 'black holes' of space!

Thanks tho for the nice comments,

Bronnie

Great idea! I had visions of cutting exact 'crossing' angles and such. Well, I would wouldn't I!! I don't seem to have an 'easier way' bone in my body >gg< . In message , Bronnie writes

The quilt is stunning Bronnie.

How did you enjoy the AQC? At the last minute I could not go this year, but maybe next year.

Yes, Cheryl, AQC was great fun - I should have enquired as to whether you were going. My apologies to you . We had 6 of us there from our local Gold Coast Guild. I did 3 workshops, the one mentioned here and 2 others to do with fabric printing and dyeing. I ended up with 20 nice coloured dyed FQ's but I think I will leave it to the experts - one really needs a studio set up with running water etc. if you don't want to take over the laundry LOL.
