Cher, thank you those are great pictures. Great to see you as well. Now explain to me please. These pictures are made inside mobiles. These must be huge tracktor trailers of some sort. Or are the mobile school rooms. Yes I bet that is what they are. Love the spinning wheel, with its bright colour. You also have some very interesting warps set up. Looks like you all had good times

Thanks for sharing

Hi Els, sorry but my server has been holding onto mail sends so have only just got this one, yes the mobiles are what the schools use, I'll add some pics of the outside of them next time I go in, hopefully tuesday... they are very large and we call them just hut one two or three, The one with us all in, is the main meeting hut, number one, we have a kitchenette off of it and the necessary loo..lol Looms are set up around the edge and we eat our packed lunches in the middle part, although the college is also a school, and we can go over and buy stuff from the canteen there if we so wish. They are lovely ladies and we have some interesting chats both on and off topics. All very interesting. Also those spinning for projects bring their wheels with them to hut one and spin all day...some just bring the bobbins for the Ashfords but there are wheels in every hut, so no probs...then all they have to do it take the bobbin home with them. I would have to take my wheel as I use the trad but a jumbo...get more on the bobbin then before having to niddy noddy off....

I don't weave for myself when I am there, lots do, but I have looms at home as you know, so I weave whatever for the workshop....sometimes I will do something I've never done before to learn it, this time I am doing a bag mainly to learn the many lifts of rosepath, I only know how to thread up one rosepath way and that is like this \\^^^^^^^^// sort of idea and from that I've done twill lifts and using a cottolin slub made some interesting designs in white that I turned into hand towels for a friend for xmas...

Hut two has the warping mills in, and a table for raddling, for the throws and bigger things, as well as huge floor looms and table looms around the edge. A cupboard full of yarns as well as loads hanging up in the entrance which you can see in the photos. Hut three houses a huge loom forget how many shafts on it, tons...lol it has a small warping mill like the one in your photo and large floor looms and table looms too...a cupboard there is full of rug wools. We are now affiliated so that we can join guilds as part of them, although many of us belong to other guilds too. I belong to quite a few, my nearest being Wiltshire of course cos I live here, but I rarely go to their meets as it's always on a Saturday and I've always either had Edward home or been working that evening meaning I would have that on my mind and have to leave early..

So there you go Els...it's fun and that's the main thing, Jane who teaches us, she is sat to my left along that row at the end in a blue top, see the lady in the burnt orange/brown dress, then the lady next to her well Jane is the next one with short hair, facing front with a blue top on, The drying roller racks behind her... she is actually a retired primary tutor, and absolutely excellent, and so patient, I've never known her lose her rag at anyone...she teaches the children from the college too, when they are doing a rural studies group they come over and jane goes through it all with them. she was Chair of the Assoc of Guilds here in the UK for years too...great lady.

See also my reply to you about the bowmont fleece..lol

cheers....cher

I didn't take them, obviously as I'm in one of them, one of the gals in my yahoo group of uk spinners and weavers came up for a day visit and took them, so they are in our files, so I whipped them over to my blog as well.

Hi Cher,

What beautiful colors they have spun. I love picture F72E and how those colors go together. Have also printed off the one with you in it.

Hugs,
