Thought I'd say Hi

I've been beading for a couple of years now, and hiding here reading everything for about a year. I finally thought I better de-lurke and say hi.

I have just finally figured out Dutch Spiral, which may seem crazy cos now I can do it, I see it is pretty simple. I've tried to make it for ages and all of a sudden this weekend it went right. So I am currently working on the most gorgeous green and gold spiral bracelet.

So just to make me feel better are there any patterns out there that some of you just cant do? :-)

Welcome, ally!!!

So far, all I can do is peyote (only if it's even count), brick stitch and square stitch.

Glad you de-lurked!

Time you came out of the woodwork Ally. It's okay folks, Ally is a friend of mine albeit a distance friend. Welcome to the group Ally and let us see some pictures. Shirley

Welcome! I'm glad you decided to jump in -- after all, the water's fine!

Yeah, the flippin' Dutch Spiral.

Haven't yet figured out how to get a bead-crochet rope started properly. Can't yet do the increases and decreases needed for some kinds of sculptural work. I understand the principle, but it breaks down in practice, and I end up repeatedly ripping things out because they look 'messy' instead of on purpose ...

Haven't done knotted necklaces ... they kind of scare me, because it would be such a pain to undo a mistake several knots back.

On the other hand, practice has given me confidence with a lot of techniques that once were baffling, too... And everything I master feeds the new stuff I try, even if they seem fairly unrelated.

Well take a look at the instructions here:

They suddenly made sense to me and I could do it - couldnt before. Of course now I'll have to have a go at the double spiral. :-)

Nope. Any sites with instructions? I am certainly willing to try coming at things from a different angle.

Deirdre

Sorry. Don't know anything about instructions. I just played around until it worked, and it came easily to me.
