Thanks for all the encouragement from everyone. There were some interesting ideas for the use of the yarn. I had thought about using some as ties on future prospective quilt projects. Possibly as cording on applique for the stems of flowers and such. One of my goals is to make a "modern" style of pictorial quilt. I have seen some done at various quilt shows and I am really impressed with the style. I think that will have to wait until my free motion quilting skills are up to speed. I am having trouble keeping the control of the free motion so that the stitch size/length is uniform. I am thinking about getting another Bernina with the stitch regulator so that I can get the result without all the learning curve. I have heard that the Bernina Stitch Regulator does not like to play with red color fabric due to the red laser light that "reads" the stitch and calculates it, against the red background of the fabric. That would be a serious limitation due to the frequency of the use of red in quilting. I have only heard this from people who use other brand machines and are happy with their machines. I was wondering if there were any of you folks who use Bernina's with the stitch regulator feature for free motion quilting who can confirm that, in fact, it is a problem to deal with. Or is it an urban myth that may not, in fact be true. Possibly was a factor on the earlier models of that feature and since eliminated. That would save me a lot of money and force me to just suck it up and learn to use the Janome

1600 and be done with it. Ok, enough of this talk. There are pieces to sew and I am off to the Boys quilt room as my wife calls it.

Nice sewing room! I think I need a cabinet like that Shaker cabinet. Not that I have anyplace to put it.

The quilt is lovely and I loved that Shaker cabinet. My dad did work-working, He made beautiful stuff as well. He is gone now but I have all his treasures he made for me. The hardest part of breaking up his home was his woodshop. Nobody in the family except him really did wood-working and it was sold off. He protected me so much growing up that he never let me use his power tools but yet I was his little helper. Be proud of your work. Pami

John, I did a "Make and Take" project at the Bernina booth at Market. They were using red fabric exactly because of this urban myth. The Bernina stitch regulator will work fine with any color of fabric, including red. In fact, I am beginning to think about a Bernina with stitch regulator for quilting.(This from someone who is a long time Viking/Husqvarna user and swore I would not own a Bernina!) Not sure at this point what I am going to do. Depends on $$$ and when I get enough to do something.

Your room and quilt are both lovely. I wish I could be that tidy. sigh.

That is what I suspected. It would be silly for the company to promote the machine with the caveat "doesn't work on red". Possibly an earlier version had the problem. In my looking the 440 QE Aurora is the least expensive and without any discount is about $2400-$2600. that buys a lot of free motion quilting or at least it should. Sometimes there is a sale but that seems to be retail.

Well done on your quilt!! You did a great job. I also love your sewing room! You did a wonderful job on your furniture. Like the others I really love that Shaker cabinet. I'm hoping my DH can make me some furniture for my room (once we remodel the house so I have my own room that is!) If he does half the job you did, they will be great pieces. I can see why you did it as a profession!!
