Changing access to rctq

OK - I am sick of not receiving about 30-50% of posts through OE (including some of my own) so I have ventured into Google Groups. Boy, is this different!

Anyone got any good tips for how best to read rctq through GG

I believe it is possible to use Google as an NNTP feed for a real newsreader like Forte Agent or MacSoup. But news.individual.net is always going to work better.

I've used Google Groups when on holiday at internet cafes. I detest it.

I have always used OE newsgroups and I get all the posts. I was without my computer for awhile while gettiing a new one and it was impossible to follow anything through Google. I wish you luck.

Are you sure you are downloading all the headers? I miss a message now and then but not many. If you are downloading all the headers then it's more likely a problem of your server than OE.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for news groups and mail. I've never had any problems and it's free. I've used google a few times -- don't think I'd be happy after using Netscape and now Thunderbird.

Howdy!

With much aggravation.

Got used to reading it w/ OE, now even easier via Entourage; GG is aggravating by comparison. YMMV

Cheryl, I read through google. I set it to send me digests every 25 messages. It takes getting used to reading them in digest form, but I enjoy reading it that way. When you want to respond, you then have to click on the message and be taken to Google groups.

TVM - but you're talking a foreign language to me.

it's a server problem - not OE per se.

Don't know what Entourage is.

Hate GG but it's a server problem - the posts don't come to us so OE is not the problem.

Don't! LOL - I hate it

As others have said.......it's not Outlook Express. I've been using it for years and never had trouble with the newsgroups. I have 8 newsgroups and three binaries groups and I've never had trouble receiving anything. Talk to you ISP, it's whatever news reader they subscribe to. Maybe if you complain enough they will change who they are using for a newsgroup feed.

Yes, I know it's my provider - but I can't do anything about that.

I see now that you say it's a server problem. Guess Thunderbird wouldn't help with that :(

Yes Cheryl..... just get used to it...LOL I did exactly as my ISP said and still couldn't get newsgroups. I did hate it at first but now I am just use to it and don't think that I could go back to using OE.

Shame on you!!! LOL - I love OE. My DH tried to convert me to outlook which still gave me access to newsgroups but through opening OE (weird but true) and I hated it. So now he runs regular outlook and I run OE. Easy and we are both happy.

But Sharon Google groups is better than no access at all right ? The times when we go camping 'outback' for a couple of weeks I can come back and see every topic that has been posted and skim through each one. Sometimes I read the complete thread some times I don't. It also makes it much easier to find old threads ( how else would I know that you were refering to your new cook book not an oven as your Christmas gift LOL )

We are switching from newsguy to teranews. Newsguy has been the pits for the past 3 weeks. Hence my posting from google. DH just got us an account with teranews, one time hook up fee of $4.95. If you want premium service you can add it on. DH said let's test drive this one first.

Have you tried a news server?
