Changing access to rctq

We are switching from newsguy to teranews. Newsguy has been the pits for the past 3 weeks. Hence my posting from google. DH just got us an account with teranews, one time hook up fee of $4.95. If you want premium service you can add it on. DH said let's test drive this one first.

Have you tried a news server?

Since I had never heard of a "news server" until about two days ago - no. But it might be a solution. I will have to see what I can access.

I have just become used to the tiered format of OE and find it easier to follow. The main thing I dislike about other formats is that so many are not tiered for browsing. Everything I have looked at (not a huge number I admit) is either a chronological list, or the original post with a link to open all following-on posts. In OE I can browse/open/delete/respond from one screen. Guess I am getting lazy.

You program your news server to OE. We use OE only for newsgroups. .

Newsguy did an upgrade and moved most of the server farm to a new building. Unfortunately The company hired to move the servers containing non-critical data screwed up, they got them there late and something like a quarter of them were damaged. So on top of shaking out the bugs there has been that whole mess going on. If you check out the group newsguy.general there is a fair bit about what has been happening. I was only without service for some 3-4 days, my isp outsources usenet through them, though I still am bumping my head on port limits as everyone gets caught up.
