New Quilt Pix & Kitten Kapers

Hi folks, Still reading the group, not posting as frequently - quilting more this last six months (no vacations .

A short update on our Abyssinian kitten. Not so good and then some better news. The kitten "RIngo" took sick 2 days after getting him, two weeks of vet treatment couldn't find bacteria id. Vet advised returning him to breeder. Did so reluctantly. That day, I spoke to our wonderful cat vacation home (kennels and Jock said, you won't believe this, but I have a client's 1 yr Abbysinian looking for a new home with owner moving overseas. Just as spooky as finding our 'Whiskey' a day after our elderly moggie went over the Rainbow bridge

4 years ago. Move on 2 months, 'Smokey Joe' has settled in and you can see him in my quilting album:

new quilt pix as well finished recently. The 'Texan Cowboys' isquite a departure from my arty quilts; I signed up for the workshopwithout really checking what the project entailed. I had no noveltyprints in my stash until I suddenly remembered this suite of wild westfabrics obtained in Austin Tx a few years ago. Happy serendipity as Iam quite pleased with it.The workshop tutor had most students usingbright colours of the raiinbow. There were meant to be another 13panels in a large border but the thought of drafting the patterns wastoo overwhelming. Most of the students agreed . I will sell it atan upcoming show in March as you may know, no kids in our family, grand or otherwise.

Prayers and love for joy and sadness, Hugs Bronnie Qld Oz

So sorry about the kitten Bronnie, but it was a sensible thing to do, as you had had him such a short time. Smokey Joe looks gorgeous - a very rare pose for an Aby! Remember I said I loved them, but they couldn't be kept as indoor cats, so I couldn't have one. I just have to admire other people's! The Cowboy quilt is amazing. I'm sure it will sell well. The oriental one is very pretty. The sashiko is great. . In message , Bronnie writes

Bronnie, those abyssinian cats are so pretty, and Smokey Joe looks quite comfortable in his new home. :) I love your quilts -- what else is new? I *always* love your quilts! :)

Hi Sandy and others! Smokey Joe has taken a while to settle to new owners. He previously lived in an apartment so the big outdoors here has held initial fascination - 5 snakes to be exact . Non poisonous but scarey all the same. We managed to remove them before harm was done to either animal. That was in the first two weeks; none since, maybe the snakes have got wise. He does love chasing skinks and little critters to play with. At least he is keeping the insect population under control in the house. Smokey is not racing off so much now.We are endeavouring to keep him a more indoors cat so he spends afternoons in and quite happily settles in for a snooze. Of course he is not allowed out after 6pm, so that is good. He now knows his name and comes when called outside (we re-christened him) 80% of the time which is good for a cat and particulary exceptional for an Abby by all accounts . He understands what quilts are all about now. Other than cat capers, nothing much new, no trips since Italy in April. We are planning something for 08 but nothing definite yet. Spain or Japan? Best away, love Bronnie

Howdy!

Wow! The cat & the quilts! The Japanese fabric quilt & your quilting is gorgeous. The Texan Cowboys--well, that would be right at home back here where it started. And Smokey Joe makes me want the Abyssinian we've talked about for years... but Dusty the Siamese will have to be the house cat for several more years. Thanks for the show & tell. Good to see you, again. ;-)

Thanks Sandy! Good to see y'all too, I just get too busy doing whatever. But I have been quilting regularly of late. Yesterday I actually set up my late mother's sewing machine as I had straight seams to sew as well as freeform quilting! That was a first; I know a lot of you regularly use two machines. Come of age ,

Hugs, Bronnie
